It is pretty cool.. but i actually prefer the 6 ply. To each his own. I was curious as the rb toms have bearing edges rounded to outside while tge toms on the new usa are inward 30 degrees like rb snare and bass

Oh wow I didn't know that detail. If I had USA customs built they would need to be just like my round badge kit. FWIW the Brooklyn bop kits do sound great.

Yea...i am kinda curious to hear the difference in the tom bearing edges. And the jasper vs keller makeup if it makes a difference. I definitely think there will be some sort of noticeable difference between the 2. All good anyways. The black kit will travel as a gigging kit so i dont have to worry about damaging the rb kit

Keller is making shells for Gretsch to the same specs Jasper did. On the 6 ply shells, I don't hear a difference; we'll have to see if there's any with the newer shells - although a 40 year variation in the age of the shells may also impose a difference.

not so much the wood makeup... but the opposite bearing edges on the toms has me ready to investigate. i will try to tune identical and compare tone.. articulation.. etc
