RUN FOR THE HILLS! (I've got an idea...) Last viewed: 6 hours ago

From JRichard

A while back I brought up this very subject and was boo'd for bringing it up. In the real world Appraisers charge for the service. Maybe this place should do the same. A separate forum just for appraisals where posters have to pay a fee before posting. It will help keep posters honest and help offset operating costs for VDF.

And they will post the request thread in each of the other, non-fee categories.

Hmmm... I don't think charging for the service would be wise... that would create a kind of contractual thing-a-mabob that I'm sure one of the attorneys on the site (you know who you are) would really run for the hills. In other words, we would have to really know what we are talking about in a legal sense, maybe. I don't know. I just kind of like the idea as a public service -vs- requiring a fee... that way when we tell some goober that picked up a new in the box handmade Gladstone snare at a yard sale for a buck that his drum is worth ten bucks on a good day... and buy it from him for that... well you get my drift.

Besides, I'm sure the admin folks have other things to do besides pour over a fee based thread and approve a thread for posting when the fee is paid. Or whatever... (see! See VDF gods! I'm being good! Don't beat me!)

Besides, we should all be tossing poor David a nickel or two every now and again, anyway... just because he's so handsome (that's what he keeps telling me anyway... never seen him... he's prob stretching the truth a tad.)

And what is it with all the 'Firesign Theater' quotes? Nick Danger is still my hero...
