I'll also put my hand up if you're going to sell any of this kit. I have a 20, 12 ,12, 16 plus snare in walnut and am looking for a 13 or 14" tom.

Thanks for your interest, Supraphonic. I would really rather not break the kit up (BD & tom-wise); the two 14" toms have consecutive SN's - one has the original clip-mount, the other was refitted with an older Tama mount. I'm looking for another original clip mount. The other toms are 16FT & 18FT and a hacked-up 22" BD. Just received an original tom mount for the BD and have to get going on that end. Lots of drums with lots of cleaning and polishing to do. Also need a few more bits to make everything complete again.
I may keep the snare, but that would probably be it. I am currently restoring this kit and will at some point have to sell it (I just don't have the room for more drums). Wish I had more house. I love the Gretsch walnut kits. I'd rescue them all, if I could. I'll keep you posted.
Son of a..........
Almost covered the butchery.
Have you tried a techware mount?
For whatever reason, lots of alterations have already happened, so your holding fast to the configuration is probably going to have little, if any, benefit to the value of them. What with all the scratches and extra holes that's a perfect project kit for rewrap or something.. It is pretty common for players to scrounge for Gretsch singles and then rewrap or restore. Especially Stop sign era, when the hardware and quality was suspect.
Don't get me wrong, I am for keeping original, especially when the set is most original, but when it has been bastardized like that, there's a point when I definitely would look at making it into a great player set. That would involve selling part to fix up the other part, or whatever. Gretsch isn't such an untouchable brand name that it isn't happening with their drums like any other brand..
Also I look at that type of destruction of the drums as a blessing in disguise: What if they never did the damage? You may never have seen that set, as it may have been sold at a different time or place as a set with no issues.
