Jim,

My dad will be gone 2 years this November 20th. He was the biggest supporter of my drum playing. My first job, at 15-1/2 years old, was playing drums at Shakey's Pizza, along with the piano and banjo players. What a fun time! Not being able to drive, dad loaded up me and my drums each week and drove me 30 miles round-trip for my "gig". That was only the first of all the things he did to support my drumming of the decades. Thanks dad!

Jim...cherish your memories!

Sorry to hear about your dad. My dad passed on just over 20 years ago, he was also in WW11. He loved the songs, Yellow Submarine and Give Ireland Back to the Irish. He was a proud Irishman and never once discouraged me from playing the drums. I really miss him.Btw, both of those kits look great.

Give Ireland Back to the Irish? Cool dad. That song was banned in England. I have the rare 45 sleeve. My dad is slowing down and the cold reality of old age is suddenly on my mind lately.

Bless all of our parents who have passed. Nice post. Keep healthy everyone 😀

Jim - I just read this and I can only express my deepest condolences for you and your family. Sad news.

Too many great drums to list here!

Very sorry to hear about your dad my dad was the reason I ended up with a Hollywood champagne sparkle back in 67 he alway liked me playing I miss him and he died in 1989 at the young age of 64 and now I'm 64 it's so surreal to reflect on the past we can only carry on as the wayward sons peace of Christ be with u in this holiday season

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
