sell badges or use on drums Last viewed: 12 hours ago

As some of you know I recently got an old pearl kit. Don't think they are pearl presidents but the "President" badges came with it. I'm almost 100% sure my kit is a Pearl but not the president line. Should I sell the badges or keep them and put them on my drums...I hate to put badges on it if I'm not sure if they are really that series. If I do sell them (on ebay) how much do you think would be a good price each (have 4 of them)?

Here is my kit: http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=55869

It might be a little distracting if you're bothered the kit's not completely authentic. I doubt many people would be able to point it out, though.

If there's a chance they'll end up in someone else's home one day you might just leave them blank. Maybe write it into your will that when these things get put on eBay they remove the badges first so no one one gets duped! ;)

Yeah, I figure I will feel like the drums are "posers" if I put the badges on. I really want some script badges like the one on the kick drum head but they seem impossible to find. How much should I sell the badges for? They are hard to find as well (none on ebay or reverb)

Hello ardrummer

You did an excellent job on your drums

I have flirted with the idea to try that upholstery vinyl myself

If it were me, I would not use the president badges on the drums

Have you done the extensive research to confirm that they are not Presidents? If so, and you have a clear conscience about it - then I would go ahead and sell the badges.

If your research indicates that the kit is indeed a Pearl President, I would reinstall them on the drums.

The archived Pearl catalogs are pretty complete. IN addition, you might be able to find someone at Pearl who could help you further if needed.

I can confirm that that is indeed a kit made by Pearl.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Thanks! The vinyl is really easy to work with, hardest part is getting the old wrap off :) Regarding the badges, I am going to sell them since it appears that my kit isn't of that line.

I have researched it quite a bit and I can't find any President series drums that have the consolette mount on the bass drum. Looks like 68 is the last year they used that mount. Although, I have seen that the "President" series was introduced in 1966 but in the catalogs they aren't mentioned until 69....very confusing CryBaby
