The bass mount in those pics is a earlier pre SOM part. 63ish or so? The SOM bass mount is a little different. The one you posted was a double diamond clip mount style used with that bass mount. First SOM was 68. The tom mounts and SOM there look like the 2nd gen version. 2 kinds of down tubes were used. D shaped for the bass mount and O (round) shaped for the stand mount. Although the down tube in your pics is the round tube version. The SOM tom mounts are the same bolt pattern as the earlier diamond clip style mounts. So they are a bolt on swap. The SOM shells did get a hole drilled for the nub to pass through. But a diamond to SOM retro fit does not really require the hole. You can just space it out a touch from the shell. I did this on my Radio King tom and works very well. So if you need to recreate the EXACT setup in your pics it'll be a mix of parts from a few years. But all Slingerland parts so that's cool.

Small detail to add to Glenn's excellent write-up. That badge style ran from 1963-69. Serial number would narrow that down.

Nothing special here but I like them.

The original tom mounts with the tongues to fit in the old kind of diamond plates will position the two toms EXACTLY the same way that the toms are positioned in the picture of that great looking Gold Satin Flame set. I used the old mounting system with a green Glass Glitter set that I gigged with for a few years. The toms were positioned well enough for me that I was able to adjust to them immediately. Once again, I'll state my philosophy that the drummer should be able to adjust to the set-up as well as the set-up adjusting to the drummer. The drum set is your horse. You adjust to each other.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.
