Set-O-Matic tom holder Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Another thing I'm contemplating trying is getting a Yamaha Tom post and using some kind if adapter sleeve to lock onto the Yamaha's hex rod that also inserts into the set-o-matic tom bracket.....the kicker is I need to make sure the Yamaha post is 7/8" dimater tubing so as to fit the original Artist Custom bass drum mount. Unfortunately I can't find any info as to tubing size on the current Yamaha offerings. I'm not so worried about an adapter sleeve, as I could probably fabricate something to fit both the hex rod and the 5/8" inside diameter of the slingy tom bracket.

As a Slingy guy, I wonder the same thing.... but that's just the way it is.The single arms are fairly rare, and go for $60 to $100 depending on condition. The doubles are not so scarce, and can go for a good bit less. Those Super Set-O-Matics always go for stupid money..... thank goodness I'm not interested that much in Slingerland drums that new.

The problem with using a normal slingy double tom holder is that the tom would be too far away from me if I adapted one of those to a Gibraltar or Yamaha omniball/tube setup. Plus it would look stange with a stub sticking out towards the audience in plain site.

I no longer need one of these. Given up. Not willing to pay an arm and a leg for one, so I'm filling the mounting holes on the rack tom and going to redrill it for a Yamaha mount. Yeah, yeah....I know.....but it already had extra holes in it and its an orphan of questionable vintage that's going to get veneered in natural maple soon anyway. So flame away if you will, but in the end, its my drum, I'll do what I want to and with it. :p
