Shill bidding at it's finest Last viewed: 2 minutes ago

Ok that makes sense. I hope the highest "real" bidder reports them but we all have heard that nothing really happens so long as Feebay gets their money.Soap Box

Luke, turn away from the Dark Side!

I quit fleabay and Paypal about a year ago now. Walked away from a 100% positive feedback rating for some 200 transactions. I got sick and tired of the abuse. I figure sooner or later, a lot of other folks will see the light and just say, NO!

I sell here and on CL. That's good enough for me. SCREW EBAY!

Too many great drums to list here!

Oh believe me, I do stay away from there except when I want to sell some current production snare in 9.5/10 condition. I have to overperform (loads of hq pics in posting and progressive pictures of item being boxed are emailed to buyer after payment) but I tend to get much better money than I would otherwise get on CL.

I had figured shill bidding had gone the way of the goonybird awhile back, but I guess I was being naive.

One comment on this "shill" biddibng, as in the first thread on that rogers set, where it is assumed shill bidding took place, is it not true that if a seller practices unethical bidding, that that parnter in crime wins the item, doesn't the seller have to pay e bay fees for that? I would think it not be in his best interest to do this, because if he sold this set for $900, ( on print anyway) he would owe e bay $90, still have ths set, and be out the cash.

The seller only has to pay the FVF (Final Value Fee), or $90 if he gets paid. If his 'partner in crime' doesn't pay him, which he likely won't if it's a shill, then no FVF's are paid to eBay. His only cost up to that point is the listing fee. If he sells it on a second chance offer to a legitimate bidder then he will pay the FVF which is a percentage of the actual selling price. He'll pay the paypal fees as well if paypal is used.
