Shipping Damage Part 2 Last viewed: 44 seconds ago

From Ludwig-dude

As I stated above, the buyer should have made the claim with the post office if he was planing on fixing and keeping them, not the seller.

Wrong...In case of international shipments (and the drums come from Canada if I'm not wrong) the buyer CANNOT initiate the claim, only the seller.

The fact that you are questioning why the seller is still holding a broken drum AND wanting a piece of that action is very telling as to how you define "ethics".DOH

I see and agree with your reasoning, please don't attack my ethics. The seller is not holding it btw, the buyer is. Also, he doesn't want something he doesnt deserve, he just likes the drums and wants to get them professionally repaired instead of starting from scratch. I dont think that is being greedy or unethical.

Fair enough. I will retract my statement. It was birthed from your presentation of speculation and as such was based on a sandy foundation. It appeared to me that you were questioning the seller being reimbursed as played out within my previous comments. If you weren't, then I erred in my statement of your ethics.

All of our comments at this point will continue to be speculation until enough time has passed and we see which road the buyer and seller have taken. So, we should wait and see.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience, that just sucks! I see this kind of crap all the time, people just don`t take any pride in their work anymore. I had a set of Slingerlands shipped to me a few weeks ago. When I went to the post office to pick them up, this is the 1st box they brought out to me. I about threw up! Yep, that looks like the box with the bass drum in it! I almost committed a federal offense! because of the "oh well" attitude of the postal workers. Loaded them up and took them home, opened the box and there was no packing material in the box. The drum was in a leatherette case and the drum was ok! Wow!! what a intense 1/2 hour that was.

Its both sad AND scarey to think that in this day and age of Ebay and other over the internet sales/shipping, that no one has a clue as to how to CORRECTLY pack and ship something FRAGILE such as drums! It's not rocket science, its packing and shipping. And to think "eh, that's what insurance is for" is just plain wrong. This is VINTAGE stuff we are dealing with and is USUALLY IRREPLACEABLE, insurance will only give you the money for it....what if it was a rare piece you were looking for for YEARS and now something like this happens?

It just goes to show you that the majority of sellers out there that ship stuff like this have NO COMMON SENSE. And really, that's all it takes these days, common sense. People really have been "dumbed down" in this modern age after all it seems........now let me go fix my vintage base drum peddle........oh, sorry, petal.....LoLoLoLo
