Shipping Vistalites Last viewed: 24 minutes ago

Loading...

I have a 24" Clear Vistalite I`m about to sell off and am now a bit wary after hearing some horror stories of damaged goods via FedEx, UPS, and USPS.

Has anyone had good luck shipping Vistalites and how much packing/precaution needs to be taken? My plan is to pack the soft egg crate foam around the outside of it between the drum and the box as well as extra layers of cardboard on all sides.

Let me know what else I should do or any other advice. Seems like I`m gonna be throwin` the dice regardless so hoping to sell it locally before resorting to feebay.

Thanks as always

Anything over 22", I get custom made, double wall cardboard boxes ......

A guy brings them TO MY DOOR for $10 each!

you will want at LEAST a 28-28-20 box...............if not 30-30-20

Blairndrums is absolutely correct. I once got to tour a UPS hub and see how packages are moved through the facility...it ain't pretty. I mean there's no intentional abuse, but its just a fact of handling thousands of items each night...things bang against each other, drop down slides, etc. It's pretty much the same whether it's UPS, FedEx or USPS. Package it VERY well...over protect it!

An option I recently learned about (although I haven't tried it) is Greyhound Bus Line - Package Express. Your item travels in the bus luggage compartment and the buyer picks it up at the Greyhound station nearest his home. Like I said, I haven't tried it, but sounds like it might be a reasonable alternative for large items and they might get less abuse. Check their website: www.shipgreyhound.com/ Maybe someone here has used it....

You might try putting the good stuff inside the old stuff. That is, grab one of those old 4 lug 16 X 16 floor tom shells made in Taiwan and use it as protection before it goes into a heavy duty cardboard box.

Take all of the hardware off. It's worth the extra time involved.
