Should I buy this set? Last viewed: 2 hours ago

I'm looking to buy a drum set on Craigslist, and someone is selling a 30 year old Tama Imperialstar 7 piece set, with eight Zildjian cymbals, a full double tier Gibralta cage, and hard shell cases for $900. He claims the set is in mint condition. Is this a good deal?

Impossible to make a judgment without pictures and/or a detailed description. I think a standard dimension double-headed set with all A. Zildjians in "mint" condition with stands, pedals and cases may be worth that price. "T" badge Imperialstars ,to me are undervalued right now, especially the earlier rering drums. Well constructed workhorse drums.

Here's the description in the ad:

TAMA 7 peice Imperial Star Kit with Zildjian Cymbals everywhere (7 or 8 total), a full double tier chrome Gibralta cage (has clamps, boom arms for cymbals, etc. It's a stage kit), Hardshell cases for ALL drums, drum throne, large long gig bag for cage, cowbells, etc.), legless hi-hat stand (attaches to cage and pedal can be anywhere). Only missing bass pedal... That comes with me. The kit itself is vintage (well over 30 years old) but has been maintained well. The cage was purchased new in 1990 and also has been kept clean. Shells are a silver/grey shiney finish and are made of 100% 6 ply Birch so they'll never warp and will always sound warm and full. They have no bottom heads so they're easy to tune and mic. (Your sound guy will love you!) The kit has been in temp controlled storage in their cases for about 5 years and I need to sell it... Don't want to, but have to. If you're serious about this kit, let me know and we can arrange a time to look at it as it is in storage at a former bandmate's home. Send me an email with questions and

please don't call just to make a $500 offer or some other crazy amount... I'll keep them first. VERY fair price for all you'll get with this package. The Zildjian Cymbals alone are worth close to $1500! If you're a drummer, you know that so PLEASE don't waste our time. This is a GREAT kit in great condition and I hate to let it go.

is that a bell brass snare!!!

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Concert Toms, but yeah, what's that snare? That may be the money there.

I'd think the snare was a regular ol'"King Beat" w/cast hoops. I am not on the concert tom bandwagon, so I would not pay all the money for that set. What makes you guys think that's a bell brass snare? If it is,and you flipped it,the set would be free and then some...

Buy it if you like it. I'm not a C-tom fan, so I'd pass. However, that's a lot of gear for 9 beans. I can't tell what the snare is. Need better pics.

Good luck!

What are the pros and cons of concert toms? (I've been out of drumming for many years?)
