I am preparing to let my Big Rs go. :( I am the original owner. My parents bought them for me brand new in 1976-1977. I've played them through the years and gigged professionally with them. I was the coolest kid on the block with my double bass back in the day. The hardware shown is going too. I think I'd like to keep the snare though for the memories. Should I include it too? You can get a Dynasonic from this era for around $230 on ebay, so I figure I might keep it. What do you all think?

Hello Drumloud and Welcome to the forum!
The first question I would like to know is why are you selling them? If it's because you no longer gig, then I feel there is nothing wrong with letting them go and allowing someone else to enjoy this wonderful vintage kit. There are many of us who will say to hold onto every kit you've accumulated. For myself, I'm now in my early 60's, don't gig anymore, and have 7 kits, 6 of which are vintage. For myself, it makes no sense to hoard all these kits...just to set them up occasionally to "ooh" and "aah" them for a few hours. I will keep a few, but it's now time to let some of them be enjoyed by those that will play them. So, if you fall into this category, by all means allow someone else the pleasure of playing a great vintage Rogers Big R kit!
Let us know what you decide!
Oh, and I forgot to say that, yes, hold onto the snare drum. For me, that's the heart of the kit!

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'm going to sell. I've moved to a condo and want to get the new Roland TD50KV V-Drums. I have a gigging set so I don't play these anymore. I would really love for them to go to a new owner that appreciates the Big R. If anyone is interested let me know! Here is a link to the entire photo album: http://icl.ink/bigrgallery
What!!!!!!!??????? Get rid of the kit you grew up with and your parents bought you, and replace with an electronic kit!? You'll regret it down the road.
Why are there no photos of the snare you are thinking about keeping? Am I missing something?

Yes, Gene Trooper,
Where is the big r snare?
Nice kit sir.
Keep it for that house you will be in one day.
Or the practice space you will have.
And keep that snare too.
Thanks to Mr. Jerry Jenkins
Send it to me. I run a shelter for Rogers Snare Drums.

Yes, as I said, I'd like to keep the snare. It is in Mint condition (excellent). If the Dynasonic are tuned up correctly they have a nice crisp sound. Sound great with a fiber skin and brushes. If someone really wants the entire setup (with the snare), they can make me an offer for the snare. It's going on Reverb today. Here is the entire set of pics: http://icl.ink/bigrgallery
