Should I trade? Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Loading...

I have put up my Ludwig Stainless Set for sale over here.

Sizes are 22-13-14-16-18, condition VG

For a trade, I have been offered a Blue Vistalite 22-12-13-16 in VG+ condition plus a matching 5" Supra with light pitting...

I would love the Blue Vista but feel that trade might be a "minus-trade" for me... any thoughts?

I certainly would not do it. the stainless kit is more valuable. than the vistalite kit.

I.M.H.O You should keep your SS kit!!

Why do you think on sell it... or even trade it?

It´s probably one of the best sounding kits all around, very sought after and probably more collectable/valuable in the future than a blue vista!

Well, at least I see in that way, don´t take me so literally (I´m just a Ludwig SS Huge fan!!) Laughing H

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Forget about the financial aspect of things for a minute and ask yourself which kit you would like to trade. If you decide to do the tradecand both parties are happy then is it really a negative trade? Just some food for thought.

You would definitely be getting the raw end of the stick my friend! Blue vistas are the most common I thought. (maybe clear are) but you need a bit more for it to be considered fair. Unless you just don't care. In that case do what you feel is good for you!

Think about which one is most valuable to you. Which kit would give you the most joy n fill your satisfaction ? You may be on the loosing side money wise but gaining so much more by fulfilling the heart. Go with your heart, it will mean so much more in the end.

Well, I let go of a 22/12/13/16/Supra Stainless Steel kit in 1991 and I greatly regret it to this day.

If your SS kit is in round, keep it. Such kits are less common than blue vistalites, and are less likely to crack. They also, properly tuned, sound tremendous. Mine can sound fat and still cut, un-mic'd, with single ply coated heads. No one that I know of is making anything of the same grade SS today.

It wouldn't be a bad trade if you don't like the stainless set and prefer a Vistalite, but your set is more valuable. You could probably ask the guy to do the trade plus cash and see what he says. That's what I'd do. They never agree to it btw. :)
