Hi, I just got 3 Simmons pads and an SDS9 brain (I bought them from two separate sources). By the looks of what I can find on the web, the pads are from an SDS7 kit (they are red and look exactly like the ones in the pix from the Simmons museum site ... 1/4 jack on the bottom, etc)

My question ... the pads seem to be very unresponsive; I have to hit them very hard, even with the sensitivity settings on max on the SDS9 brain. Are these two compatable (a SDS7 pad and an SDS9 brain). Is there a way to freshen things up a bit (maybe the brain and the pads)?

Thanks,

Karma

any pad, from any manufacturer, should trigger it I'd wager. I've an SDS1000 & some other Dynacord pads & it triggers t/ SDS1000 brain.

Good luck - Chris

I used to customize my SDS5 pads and made my own pads for it.

These pads have a piezo element glued to plywood.

Some pads had a resistor from + to - at the jack to reduce voltage.

See if you have a resistor.

You may not need it.

Also, piezos can be swapped out for fresh.

Also 2 or 3 can be wired together in series or parallel for more voltage to the brain.

Let us know.

Yeah, I was one of those "Linn" and "Simmons" guys.

Electronic Times, some of it was fun.
