Sixties Slingerland Players Outfit Last viewed: 9 hours ago

FOR SALE..... $475.00 plus shipping.

A 20/13/16 sixties Slingerland Outfit re-wrapped with a NOS custom wrap ordered by Allen Blaemire in the 70s, 80s. The only name we have for it is "Black with Gold and Silver Flecks".

A set of singles......

All have the second black and brass Niles Slingerland badge.

Bass ..... 51424.....'63

Floor .....221451 .....'68

Ride ...... 248767 ..... '69

Edges are not pristine (who'da thunk) but good.... all three tune up nice.

New Remo Ambassador Coated heads on batters of the toms and clears on the reso side.

Vintage Slingerland batter and reso on the bass, you would want to replace these, I would think.

Lugs are nice. T-rods and washers on the toms are new. Torpedo T-handles and claws are sixties Slingerland... Ten are nice and six are in fair condition.

Replacement hoops are straight edged with no inlay groove.

The holes for the tom mount, mufflers on both toms, bass leg mounts, and set-o-matic mount on the bass are present but wrapped over.

Comes with a Slingerland stand for the ride, or we can work out putting on a mounting system for the outfit for an additional charge.

I'm out of bass leg mounts, so I would recommend the Danmar hoop-mounted legs as an affordable alternative.

I've got WAY over the $475 asking price in these, so the price is Firm.

Thanks

Beautiful kit and wrap! I know you're not calling it "Galaxy Sparkle" but it really looks like it from the pics...

Thanks for the positive vibes, guys !!

Yep, I got the wrap from Jazzdrummer, who got it from Drumjinx over at the DFO.

DJ told me they really had no specific name for the wrap, as it was a custom order, so they just called it Black with gold and silver flecks".....

It was used on fiberglass shells in the 70s and 80s by Allen Blaemire.

And that's all I know about that....LOL !!

That wrap looks to me like the Slingerland "Black Sparkle" offered from 1958 through 1968. or Slingerland's "Sparkling Black" offered from 1976 through 1979. Some batches of the wrap featured silver and/or gold sparkle bits sparsely sprinkled on a black background with a clear top layer. The other variation is what is on my late 60's Slingerland set (20--two 12's--14) on which the little sparkles are a beautiful lavender color under strong lighting.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

They do look similar.

Here's what Jerry quoted me when I tried to purchase some more:

"Hi Kevin

Sorry to say that I am out of the black with copper and silver flecks.

I am not sure of the name of this wrap as it was a custom wrap that was created for Allen Blaemire in the 70-80's. He sold it along with his fiberglass shells which I have been restoring.

Jerry"

I had thought of using this wrap when Jerry and I were wrapping my Blaemire kit. I ended up passing on it, which ended up being the right decision, as I've had numerous add on drums and we wouldn't have had enough. It is a cool wrap though.
