Sleishman Omega Kit Last viewed: 4 hours ago

I know, I know, it's not a vintage kit. But these are hard to find, so I thought I should try everywhere. I'm looking for the Omega kit in rock sizes. Or let me know if you have any other Sleishman stuff. Thanks!

I did that, but thank you for the suggestion anyway. I saw that there were two recently, so hopefully some more will show up soon.

Potsy - get ready bud, when they do come up... you'll need to refinance your home to buy em! Great drums, but --- e-x-p-e-n-s-i-v-e.

Good luck, hope something turns up for you shortly. I'll keep my eyes open for you.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Hope you're ready for the extremely limited tuning options you have with Sleishmann's single-tension system.

It seems like people have limited info on these drums. Their custom drums are pricey, but the "Omega" production line that they have is pretty reasonable. They come up used and even new sometimes for $800-$1200 for a 5 piece including a snare. I think that's pretty reasonable.

As for tuning options, I don't need a ton of different attack/resonance options. I just want my kit to sound good, and something close to the imaginary tone I hear in my head. These drums sound great, and just how I would want a modern kit to sound. Plus, I hate tuning drums. I'm ok at it, but it always takes me way longer than I would like to spend on it.

With Sleishmans, you basically get both heads tuned to the same note, and a really easy way to change the pitch. Changing head thickness is how you develop your resonance/attack balance. Each drum has a ridiculously wide tuning range. Watch this video (it's like 2 min): http://youtu.be/viAkLqZ4OZ4

Keep in mind that this is a 10" tom. In almost no time, he gets it sounding like everything from a 16" to an 8" without touching the bottom head. And it sounds great at every pitch. I know that this is the company's advertisement, but I've also checked out every other video I could find from players using all kinds of good/bad recording equipment and the kits always sound good.

I'd love to be able to hear one in person before I buy one, but that's probably going to be easier said than done. At this point I'm pretty sold, and willing to buy one sight unseen. I can always resell it if I don't like it.
