What would you suggest as a good Maple shell purchase from the 70's for a Sling snare, I don't see many showing up...

The only all maple shell drums from the 70's that I know of were the Radio Kings.Single ply steam bent shell.Later on in 79,Slingerland mentions a 5 ply maple shell for the Artist model, though I think it may be maple/mahogany.

So if it has to all maple and 70's,you have to go with a Radio King to be sure of an all maple shell, and it will cost a few dollars, easily over 350 in good condition.

One slight correction ... the 5 ply shell was a maple/poplar/maple/poplar/(either maple or mahogany). The shell was actually an earlier 70s shell and continued production well into the mid 80s. There was not pure maple other than the single ply, as has already been mentioned.
