I recently bought a Slingerland Oakwood laquer 1979 kit.
Why were these wood finishes only available in the 1979 catalog?
Was 1979 somekind of anniversary year, or were business just slow on these finishes?
I think they look awesome :-)

Dude! I just bought one, too. Amazingly clean looking drums. How 'bout some pics of yours. What sizes did you nab?
Additionally they offered Rosewood, Cherry and Teak ( ! )
I've been hammering a 1979 in Red Gloss pearl for decades
My 1st wife picked them out, ( long story ) Kiss
Last night, with Vintage Ambs they just sang...
IMHO, 1979 was the last gasp...
Great Score!

Ok, sweet!
Today I got lucky again :-)
1979 Teakwood Country Road set-up inc 13", 14", 15", 16" Concert toms
16"x18" Floor tom and 14"x24" Virgin bass drum and 6.5"x14" Sound King snare.
Pretty scuffed, but $200.00 is ok, right? :-)
Very cool score. Would love to see 'em.
You are the luckiest Slingy man this week. I can't believe you tapped not one but two rare 79 finishes. That's just too cool for school.
