Slingerland 30's? snare with WMP hoops? Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Hi -

Did Slingerland make snares with wood hoops with inlay like this in the 30's or is this some sort of modification? Just trying to figure out the originality of this drum. Any help would be appreciated!!

Yep.

http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/images/catalogs/slingerland/1941-slingerland-snares3.jpg

Badge looks to be one used from 1937-1943

This is from the 1941 catalog.

Also show's wood hoop with WMP inlay in the 1936 catalog.

Whoa! Countersunk claws into the batter hoop!! Even the catalog makes a point to highlight this feature. I've never heard of such a feature on any other vintage snare. Has anyone here seen such a setup or maybe have an existing example?

Wow Vince, rare find indeed! That's a sweet one. I'd ask Mike Curotto what he thinks/knows about it. It's a first for me.

Too many great drums to list here!
