Slingerland '70's Lug Question Last viewed: 47 minutes ago

Loading...

you guys have really helped me along with my SSK restoration project, thanks very much...glad to be a member of this site.

So, my question is...wary to mid 1970's lugs...are they exactly the same on a Festival, Sound King, SSK? I've examined all three and don't see any difference. All are from black and silver badge snares of this time period.

Reason I'm asking is I have some near mint lugs from a Festival I took apart and would like to replace some of the bad lugs on my SSK.

Thoughts?

Thanks very much for the help.

I'm a Slingerland lover, but not an expert on the minutiae of small parts for them. My take on the matter is, if the lugs look alike and have the same spacing of the mounting holes, they are the same to me. What alloy are they made of? I don't care.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Thanks! I agree in general. However, I'm trying to do my best to restore my '73 Super SK to as close to factory correct as I can. At this point, I'm replacing the top COS SK hoop (bad pitting) with a mid-70's COS SK top hoop. Fortunately, the bottom hoop was quite good once I cleaned/polished it. With the help of Mikey, I've managed to pick up a couple of original small strainer pieces I needed....only one piece left (strainer guard), plus new wires.

It will take a bit of time, as I am taking each strainer apart to clean and polish....one down, one to go!:D
