Slingerland Drum kit 1960's Last viewed: 0 seconds ago

Loading...

Hi, I recently posted questions regarding my Slingerland Drum kit. I noticed that the legs on the Bass are missing. I'm curious as to what the part is called so I can do a search for them. I saw something called "Spurs" would that be it? I also noticed that the snare is missing a part on the under side. Not sure what it's called. The previous owner used this green ribbon to keep it on place (pictured).

Any help would be great!

David yes the spurs are what they are called, the snare drum isn't missing any parts off of the snare drum strainer that part is called the zoomatic snare drum strainer that you've just shown.

Thank you, so you're saying that the part is missing off of the strainer and not the actual drum? Do I need to replace the entire strainer? or can I find the missing part? Sorry, this is all new to me.

David no the strainer is complete. whom ever owned the drum before you just used ribbon instead of snare cord to tie the snare wires down with.

Are there receiver brackets near the bottom of the bass drum on both the left and right sides near the front of drum? If there are no receivers, you need to get a pair of spurs that attach with clamps. If the brackets are there, you need a pair of spurs of the correct diameter and a wing screw for each side to tighten in order to secure the spurs in the brackets. Check out these eBay listings for both types. If you have the receiver brackets and the screws that are not stripped out, just get the actual spur rods. If the screws or the receive has stripped threads, they can be retapped. If all you need are the rods, and can't find them, you can get by if you buy stainless steel rods at a hardware store that you cut to the proper length.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Hi, thanks for your feedback. I guess it's just the rods I need based on looking at my drum. I'll attach a photo just to confirm.

Thank you,

David

If the screws and receiver threads are not stripped, you're in great shape. Good luck finding the spur rods.

You can get stainless rods cut to length and whatever diameter you need here for a substitute Slingerland spur....done it a few times, works great

Link

Anyone remember when the spur diameter changed over from 5/16th to 3/8ths ...?
