Slingerland Drums Serial Nubers / Year / Material etc. ??? Last viewed: 1 day ago

Loading...

I just picked up some vintage Slingerland that are in decent shape. They had them on the floor as a late 70's kit, but the serial numbers do not match. Here are the serial numbers on the kit:

24" Kick - 503022

14" Tom - 500891

13" Tom - 419320

16" Tom - 510757

I also picked up a nice little Slingerland snare - Serial number - 249187

I was wondering if someone can help me with what these are made of and what years they are actually from. I plan on refinishing them and will post before and after pictures. I am going with a era color of Green sparkle. Thanks in advance.

Nick: I'd suggest that you check out all the great Slingerland information included in the VDF's "VINTAGE DRUM GUIDE." It's a great source, believe me!

nice score, i just picked up a sling kit recently, as said by a earlier post the vintage drum guide is invaluable. going from memory i would say your kit is a late 70's or early 80's. i would say maple inner ply

Found it. These are 5 ply - Maple, poplar, maple, poplar, (mohagany or maple). I think my outer ply is mohagany because of how dark it is. Should sound sweet.
