Slingerland Duco bongo's. Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Loading...

Hi All,

They have arrived.

6"x5" 4 nickle plate Sound King lugs NOB rim.

8"x5" 5 nickle plate Sound King lugs COS incorrect rim. Need a NOB one.

Have had a poor respray around the bottom edge. Color match is good so should be ok with buff and polish.

Think they are 55-58ish per nickle lugs. Looking for any information.

Putting correct tension rods on and patching the head for a bit of a play before they get restored. Brings the Ducu kit up to a 9 piece Yea !.

Thanks!

Creighton,

You really have to share some pictures of this 9-piece Duco kit once you get the bongos restored. I am very intrigued.

Thanks for the interest.

Here is the thread that I have been lame about updating.

Still not assembled. Ultra Sonic device was the last needed tool. Bongos got me motivated to finish something :-)

Bongo's are just the cutest little drums. Hoop so wrong on the 8" tension rods will strip the inserts. The 6" is a treat.

Here is some progress.

Spray paint came off when cleaning. Leaving a fine brush applied coat of latex house paint over the lower blue stripe. No idea why painted in the first place.

Q-tips and Graffiti Remover are slowly getting that off. Bought a COS later Niles rim that may or may not work. Figure a NOB one is going to take awhile to find. The 6" on the left is still as received.

The only ones I have ever seen close to the same era were from Derek's web site (a member) on his web page for MKE drums in Black Diamond pearl:

Maybe he can chime in with some info on them.
