Slingerland Gene Krupa kit wmp Last viewed: 3 hours ago

This is a 1967 WMP Slingerland Gene krupa kit. 14x20" bass drum, 9x13" tom, 16x16" floor tom. 5 x14" brass sound king. I have the tom mounted on a snare stand which I love, but I would prefer to use the consolette mount, but in typical Slingerland fashion, it kills the tone of the tom, choke city. I still need two wmp bass drum hoop inlays and the bass drum mounted cymbal arm to complete this kit, I have had it for 6 weeks or so. I have spent quite a few hours playing it as the heads on this kit were new 6 weeks ago can attest to. I thought it is appropriate for this time of the season!!! :)

Those are in excellent condition. Very sweet kit congrats on them! :) How were they when you got them? That chrome and WMP really shines.

Glenn. the wrap and chrome where dirty but they have been detailed and cleaned per my usual treatment. I strip them completely down, give them a good going over, the wrap is Novus polished, the rims are cob, the kit was fairly well maintained over it's life.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Replace the felt under the diamond plate with one nylon or hard rubber washer at each bolt. If there is a plate inside the drum do the same there. I've found it makes a sonic difference to get that plate off the shell. When you place the tom on the mount rod check to see if the diamond plate rests against the tongue. If it does, mount another nylon or rubber washer at the point of contact. I've used this method with success on the following 8x12 toms: 1965 Leedy; 1960 Slingerland; RB Gretsch.

Never play it the same way once.
