Slingerland hoop fit Ludwig? Last viewed: 6 minutes ago

Loading...

I am restoring a 1967 Ludwig club date. The base drum was missing the front hoop, t rods and head. I have found the t rods and they are on the way. I have found a Slingerland hoop and waiting for an answer on dimeinsions. If the dimeinsions are correct then would it be wrong to use it because it is a Slingerland? I cant see any difference in the pics, it even has the correct inlay. How would one even know whether its a Ludwig or Slingerland anyway. they dont have any numbers on them. And how important is it to get an origional resonant head and same question applys, how do I identify origional? I am restoring this kit for resale and want it to be as close to origional as possible. Thank you!

Here it is. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190556804524

One way to tell would be if the original claws were larger and left scuff marks outside of the current claws coverage on the hoops.

have a wonderful evening

It should not matter if the Slingerland hoop is the same diameter of the Ludwig drum. I will not speculate on value of the restored drum. But, I will offer some unsolicited advice. If you are going to write a listing of items for sale on eBay or Craigslist or in a newspaper ad, learn how to spell BASS drum. And, ask someone for help with your grammar and spelling. Poorly constructed listings of items offered for sale are guaranteed to generate responses from bottom feeders who are looking to buy items at a much lower price than the items are worth. I am one of many bottom feeders here on this forum. We salivate over listings for Remo Ambassador drum sets with base drums, snair drums, and zelgin symbols.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Slinger BD hoops are a little thinner then Ludwigs......maybe 1/4"?

Ha Ha! I use the word base all the time referring to the trim that goes on the floor. I do try to spell properly and have been in too much of a hurry while posting on this forum. I write my own contracts for half million dollar homes that I have built. I agree with your advice, sorry for the mistake!

I'm relieved (seriously) that you graciously accepted my unsolicited advice. I am very guilty of rushing through things that I write, forms I fill out, and online postings. I try to discipline myself to proofread and spell check my work so that I don't appear to be unprofessional with work things or stupid to anyone who reads what I post online. I am currently experiencing an almost OCD approach to posting things online.

leedy i'll give you an ocd example...i knew a guy that would write responses to things online and he would self justify the text. ie find the right or alternate words to make and entire response block justified...it was a real trip to see him do it.

30's Radio King - 26, 13, 13, 16
49 - WFL Ray McKinley - 26, 13, 16
58 - Slingerland Duco

My wife is a teacher and my daughter is starting college to be a High school english teacher so I have plenty of help. I did not see spell check on this forum. When it comes to selling a job you bet I proof read over and over and if its a really big job the wife checks it. I make cabinets for a living and did not attend college so I need spell check. I have found that spell check has actually educated me. When I post things on ebay and C.L. I look it over pretty good. My daughter gets mad when I use words incorrectly. I know exactly what you are saying about the bottom feeders. You do get an idea on the intellegence of a person by their spelling and grammer. I try to get it right every time but its hard to be perfect. Hope I spelled everything properly! ( I am laughing out loud) Hate that lol stuff!

Have a good day!

Thank you!
