I have a 66' modern solo kit with two 12" mounted toms.. on the clip mounts.

One tom has the badge pointing out and muffler knob pointing toward the drummer when it is mounted and the other has the badge pointing in and muffler knob pointing out when mounted... where all toms made the same way or are there left and right toms??

I'm just wondering if I have two left toms on this kit??

I had asked the same question back in August.

I think, yes you do have two lefts, and it should not be that way.... but it's entirely possible it came right off the showroom floor like that.

The catalog picture shows both 12s with the tone controls pointed back to the player.

Hello Jim,

Yes, NORMALLY, Slingerland designed the two rack toms for actual left and right mounting, as viewed from the drummers side. The tone control knobs would point out and back. You would have the right tom tone control at about the 5 o'clock position and the left tom tone control at the 7 o'clock position. Like many have stated, there are always exceptions to the rule!

Hmmm.. by the numbers.. floor tom is 108xxx.., one 12" is 108xxx.. bass drum is 105xxx and the other 12" tom 161xxx. That 12" does seem to be an outsider.

I guess if I get motivated and curious enough I'll pull the heads and check the stamps. I recall all as 1966... but I don't remember months.

Thanks for the responses!
