Slingerland-need help identifying. Last viewed: 15 minutes ago

Hey everyone,

I recently purchased a 3-piece (22" kick, and two 12" toms) Slingerland kit. I was told it was a 1950's (chicago badges) Radio King kit. There was no floor tom or snare. No badges on the two 12' toms. There's a date stamped on the inside of the bass drum, but it's impossible to read. Mahogany shells for sure though. Mounting system i was told is called "telescoping" (see pictures). If anyone has any information to help out I'd greatly appreciate it! thanks!

You can find the badge and shell types and age here:

or here:

The set looks like it was originally a 3 pc. (snare, bass, tom - snare missing) and then an added tom. The tom holder, telescoping cymbal mount and even internal bass drum muffler are correct for that era...and a correct extra tom was added.

If the bottom of the s on the slingerland badge is looped or closed it puts them 1956 - 1959,there is some great info on this site for sling, the most I have ever seen in one place on the net,and compiled by an expert, the interesting thing on your kit is the tom mount and rails,I have attached two pics from the gallery on this site, one is a 1955 kit,the other a 40's rolling bomber, the tom mount on the RB is a lot like yours, but the rail is different, the 1955 mount is different http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15562 http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=6707 hopefully some the Sling guys will be along to help soon.

Thanks for all the info so far everyone! Yes the "s" does have a loop on it, and judging by the sites recommended it does seem to be in that 56'-59' timeframe.

I paid $200 for these, so I think I did alright.

Yes, keep the info coming! I'd love to get these things nailed down as far as identification. Again, thanks everyone.
