Slingerland "Avante" Red Sparkle---Should I? Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Loading...

Are "Avante" kits holding their value at all? I could see the extra tom mount being undesirable. I found one that I kind of want to get (Red Sparkle) but I don't want to throw money away on something that no one is ever going to want (should I part with it).

Do you think $500 is a good buy on one of these in average condition? It looks to be complete with SK snare. I guess if you consider that the snare alone is worth $150 you can hardly go wrong on a whole kit for $500 right?

Thanks!

I'm a Slingy fan, and would do it if it's in decent shape.

That config is not popular at all, but to me, they are worth it.

Thats what I was thinking. Im a Slingy fan as well and I kind of want them for that reason even if they aren't the hottest ticket in town. Don't have a red sparkle kit yet either.

Red Sparkle is a pretty common finish eh?

Cool, Daddy-O .... !!!

O man, I just scored a '56 red glitter floor to go with the Windsor outfit.

I really thought I would never find one.

It should be here in a few days.... we can have a red-fest .....

Kevin,

I noticed the Slingerland Hi-hat with the leather strap in your photos. I just acquired a couple that look just like yours -- one has a missing leg, but they both work well. What approximate year were they made, and are they worth anything? I also have a bass pedal of the same footboard design and the leather strap. Years ago, when I was a teenager, I owned a Slingerland drum set, but I sold it to get a Gretsch set, then I went through a Premier set, and ended up with a Rogers set. I wish I had those old sets now. Oh well.

The hat stand is a model 804 "Direct Pull" made from '62 to '79.

The bass pedal is a model 938 "Tempo King" made from '63 to '79.

Around $40 and $25 for complete and in average condition, I would think.

That's what I paid for them, anyway.
