Slingerland Rail Consolette Issues Last viewed: 44 minutes ago

Hi guys,

I am having some issues with my Slingerland rail consolette. It seems that no matter how much I tighten the upper assembly, the spade that holds the tom still swivels back and forth when I strike the mounted tom. I am a little hesitant to pick up another vintage consolette in the fear that it also will be kind of worn out. Has anyone tried out one of the Steve Maxwell rail consolettes before? They have a nice vintage look - perhaps a good option?

Thanks,

James

Is it just the spade that is attached to the rod? If so you can buy just that part instead of the whole assembly.

Hi Lucky. I think I mis-spoke in my original description. The problem piece is the one that holds the rod in place on the consolette. I just cant tighten it enough to hold the rod firmly in place anymore.

Ahhh. The one from Steve Maxwell is a little pricey but worth it. Just keep the old one with the kit.

Hi James. I use the Maxwell Rail Consolette with my 1967 Slingerland kit. I opted for the long spade, instead of the short spade. Because I didn't need everything that comes with Steve's offering, he sold me only what I needed for $100. It works great AND looks great on the kit!

Alternatively Jim Petty sells similar parts - google "jp2creations"

Have heard nothing but great reports about Jim Petty's parts/work.

Good luck.

I use the Maxwell on my vintage kit and couldn't be happier. You get what you pay for. As for Jim Petty he does great work so either option will be a go for you. Good luck.

Hi James. Good choice with the Maxwell mount! I did forget to mention that I replaced many of the bolts and nuts on my mount with chromed replacements. To save costs, Steve uses mainly generic nuts and bolts. I wanted to use show-chrome hardware. Costs a bit more, but worth it! Enjoy your consolette and post pictures!
