Slingerland Set Found: Opinions Please Last viewed: 1 hour ago

The chocolate milk interiors narrow it down from 66-71, I believe.

DrumBob also mentioned a "good for nothing" 1st generation double tom mount. If original it would further narrow this set to '66-'67 as '68 and up should be the set-o-matic tom holder.

Thanks, guys. I'll call the store and get the serial numbers and report back. I'm leaning toward buying them. They're in such great shape, and I can sell the 8x12 and recoup some money. That Rogers stand has to be worth a few bucks too.

It's the 1st generation Set-O-Matic holder, I'm sure. The one shaped like a T with very short arms and very limited adjustment options. I always hated that thing. I'll sell it, for sure. I called the store. They're going to give me the serial numbers tomorrow.

Exactly! Thanks for clearing that up K.O.!!Is the finish a confetti sparkle or a crushed glass glitter? Slingerland normally used crushed glass glitter for their "Sparkling Red Pearl", but did use a confetti sparkle around 1975. It's pretty easy to see the difference.-Mark

It's glass glitter.

Hi DrumBob

PM sent....

Thanks!

Bob:

If I were going to keep only one mounted tom, I would look to acquire a single Set-O-Matic arm that should fit in the same receiving bracket that is already on the bass drum. The Set-O-Matic receiver for the mounted tom uses the same hole pattern as the diamond plate with bayonet mount that is currently on the tom. With the single tom arm you will be configured just like Buddy Rich minus his towel holder aka the second floor tom.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

I have one already, thanks.

I agree that there is not any room left flipping the kit,but selling off the tom and a stand or two would make it a really good deal as a keeper. The price is very fair IMO,esp considering it is being sold by a retail store.

the vintage Slings are not getting much money these days, case in point, about 8 mos ago I walked into my local Music Go Round and they had a Slingy 72 ish 12 13 16 22 3 ply clear int natural maple finish kit. It was in great shape no mods x holes,no rust and a few minor and I mean minor scratches to the finish. They wanted 650.00 for it.It had been sitting there awhile.

I posted on here about it and a member here went to go check it out and they had dropped it down to 450.00,needless to say he snagged it.

It's a bit disheartening actually, when I see old Rogers and Ludwig drums going through the roof and Slingies sitting unsold. Why has this happened?

I have the serial numbers of the red Slingerland set:

12"-130004

13"-130040

16"-182169

22"-130064

Can anyone pinpoint a date? The floor tom is the oddball. Is this a common thing? I tried to access the Slingerland serial number list on this site, and my computer blocked it for some reason. Can someone help?
