Slingerland Shell Info Needed! Last viewed: 40 minutes ago

Hi All,

Just won this kit on ebay.uk

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110704603324&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Its in a mahogany finish (although i have strong suspicions it was wrapped orginally). Its 13,16,20.

Two questions i have are:

1) The inside of the shells are stamped with a letter 'P'. What does this mean??? Does it help date the drums?

2) what degree did slingerland cut their bearing edges to? On two of the drums, the bearing edge almost looks flat, except for a cutaway to the inside of the shell.

Are these legit Slingy features?

Thanks!Excited

The "P" stands for Pearl ... as in, Pearl Wrap. Yes, those would have been wrapped in a previous incarnation.

There is a thread on Slingerland bearing edges on this forum. Search out the thread and view the pics. They give a pretty good account of the edges during the 'good' runs.

Thankyou RogersSling - do you have any idea what the thread was called? (obviously there are a few here). Many thanks. Bigz
