Hey everyone!
I'm a 17 year old drummer and I've been playing for 7-years. Most of which I've been playing on this old Sligerland Snare Drum that my dad gave me. Yesterday, I was playing with the concert/marching band I play with in the summer, and I was talking to one of the other percussionists(a 79-year old man) who was telling me about his first kit being a Slingerland, but this sparked my interest to figure out what it is. The drum has the 1956-1961(?) Chicago, Illinois patch with 8-lugs and it's wrap is Aqua Sparkle Pearl, I'm pretty sure. I think I read that wrap was only used in 1959? I think it's 5.5" because I got a Ludwig hard case for it when I got into drumming, and we had to cut out a layer of plastic from the top for it to fit. The snare strainers have been replace with Ludwig strainers, and the snares are some double wide snare, which I'm pretty sure is a replacement. The heads are also replaced. I'm wondering if any one can help me figure out what this drum is, I'll post pictures when I get on my computer at home to help you out! Would there be a serial number anywhere that would be a give-away? I looked on the patch and the inside of the drum and didn't see anything. From my research, the closest guess I can make is that it is a Slingerland 1959 DUCO Snare, but I'm probably wrong. Any help would be appreciated!!
