Thanks for all the replies! Unfortunately, I wouldn't be into any trades at this point. I've recently started playing the steel drums and need the money to out towards one that is currently being made for me. I'd love to keep these drums, but have to prioritize the toys! The toms are 8x12 and 14x24. There is a matching snare that has a split that I noticed in the finish, but not the shell. I know that will hurt the value, but I'm hoping to he apparentl rarity of this bass drum size will spark some serious interest. Not looking to get a fortune obviously, but I'll see what I can get.

Can you post a pic of the 14 by 24 Tom?Mallet Player2

The placement of cymbal arms on the 12 x 20" bass drums from the 2n Jobbing set varied, as did the tom holders they came with.

Usually, a 12 x 20 with that set came with regular tension rods, not T rods, so I'm guessing your drum set was a special order. Don't have my catalogs handy, but I'm guessing that size was on the bass drum page.

My silver sparkle set with a 12 x 20 was a 2n Jobbing outfit that the owner added a 14 x 14 too soon after he got it.

Mine still had the original heads. It has the shells with the mahogany interior (1961, pre-serial # Niles badge). It sounds awesome, and is light as a feather. This one came with a top dead center straight cymbal mount and and the clamp on bd hoop tom holder which the original owner used.

(I should really get a job.)

Here are a few more pictures of the kit. Not really great pictures, but at least something.

As I mentioned in one post, there is a slight issue with the wrap in an isolated location on the snare. Not quite sure what happened there, but someone may have tried to repair the wrap after it cracked or something. The wood shell behind it is perfect, however, so the issue fortunately did not reflect all the way through. I took a picture of the inside of the shell right behind the issue with the wrap to show that.

The bass-mounted tom does not have a badge/vent hole, but the 14x14 floor tom does.

I have the original hoops and bass drum heads. Not sure if I should replace those bass drum heads with new ones or sell them as-is with the old looking originals.

I appreciate all of the feedback and and messages regarding this kit. All the excitement makes me sad to part with it, but I think it'll have to go in the next month or so. What is the general opinion on selling these types of vintage kits on ebay? Obviously an auction setting has potential to bring a few more dollars, but I'm not quite sure if that's the way to go.

I'd rather sell the whole kit at once, but I'm willing to piece this kit out if I can find buyers for each piece first. Not sure if there's an advantage either way to doing it this way.

I am a drummer, and love vintage drums by the way. Even though these drums are inherited, I do appreciate them greatly for what they are and how they sound!

Well since you brought it here first this would be my opinion, offer it up here with a price you would like to get and see what happens before you decide on parting it out. As a drummer and player of vintage drums I would think your conscience would steer you from parting it out unless you really needed the cake!

I agree with Lucky. Sell it as a whole if you can, if not do what you have to and piece it out. If you do piece it out keep me in mind for that 14x14 :). Like many others here, I've been searching for one for a long time!

Good luck when you decide to sell!
