Slingy bass drum mount: ID Help Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Loading...

I've got an old 20" Slingy WMP bass drum that I initially put away because of the extra holes.... 2 Gretsch cymbal holders (1 on each side) and a set of holes at the top that had no similarity to Swivo holes.

But I recently put lugs on it and it sounds great, the WMP is very clean and I like the Gretsch cymbal arm holders. But I can't figure out the holes for he tom holder.... they were poorly drilled, so not factory, distance (center to center) of mounting holes is 3" and the center hole is 1".

It did come with a plate which is 4" square. Here's a couple of pics.

Any ideas as to the story behind this one? It almost looks homemade....

Thx,

Peter

Well Peter, don't what it is but it's not a Slingerland fitting.

Maybe MIJ ? Someone might know more about it than me.

I'm going with the latter....Home Made... (utilizing part of a cymbal mount).

Cheers

Gretsch's early double tom mount used a plate and clamp that looked like that. Yours looks a bit more primitive but the overall look is the same so maybe it's a really early one. If it is a Gretsch then you can replace it with a Ludwig one (same hole pattern) and that's what I did on one of my Gretsch bass drums that had one of these.

Hi Peter,

Definitely looks homemade to me, too! The clamp does look like what Gretsch was using, probably a W&A.

Thx for the input.... I agree with the homemade consensus. Now I have to figure out how to deal with it.
