Snare drum from WW1 drummer, what is it? Value? Do I have the pieces right? Last viewed: 44 minutes ago

This past weekend I was lucky enough to buy some very old drum hardware and drums. These pieces belonged to a WW1 veteran who was a medic in the 25th regiment of the US Army in Boston Mass. He also played percussion in the regiment band. He kept everything! I was able to purchase everything accept for a snare drum and two orchestral cymbals that had previously been sold. I will be posting pictures over the next few days to get your assistance on what I have, and if you have a guess, the value. Pretty rare to see drum related pieces this old in eastern Canada!

Not sure if these are the right pieces for this drum or not? It's very old that's for sure. No name brand on it. Lugs and brass rim remind me of a Leedy? Your help on what it is, how to finish it, and value are appreciated!

That model snare has been here before and determined as Leedy by the wing key on the Throw.

You have more than likely a Leedy trap kit with owner selected accessories which may also be Leedy.

Some time and members will ID it all. Patience.

Here`s a Leedy snare similar to yours but I think yours is earlier because it has the nut adjustment between the lugs and not top keys. It`s pre thirties I think.

Member Mike Curotto might know about this. Patience.

The marching strap is probably for the snare and attachment plate and fasteners should be able to figure out soon.

Excellent, thanks oddball. That would make sense with the WW1 timeline to be per thirties. Really wish it had a branding mark. Do you think it's valuable based on its age? I don't see many drums like this in eastern Canada. Very rare here.

There was a 37 Leedy Spartan trap kit on sale at Soul Drums website for 3,995.99.

These trap kits are very rare. Not really factory originality to them because most were individually ordered to taste. Accessories can be attached at will. For me it`s historical value to the drum world trumps that 4 Grand.

Hi and welcome to the forum. I have been watching your threads. The items you have asked about are really cool. The history in them is the coolest aspect of them all. I can not help you with any values and have to agree with oddball. The history in these items is the most value of all. Id have to bet they are all pretty much as rare here as they are in Canada. Which makes me wonder if it would help you to contact a museum or historical site. ??? Just an idea. I truely hope you find the perfact home for your cool litl collection with both buyer n seller winning. Good Luck.

Oh n btw...the snare you have...thumbs up. would love to see that baby after restoration.

Stay Wiggly,
Robyn
