I just ran across this snare and the lugs sure look ludwig, but I don't recognize the strainer. Could this be a MIJ luddie copy? Leedy? Thanks!

sure looks like bowtie lugs and Ludwig hardware. looks like an oyster blue pearl drum in nickel. the strainer looks to be chrome. maybe its a Ludwig with a replaced strainer. don't see a badge though..interior would tell a lot.

Yep, I agree with Mike, except for the strainer the hardware looks Ludwig to me. It also looks like there is a hole on the panel left of the strainer where the Keystone badge should be. It could be a super classic or jazz fest, can you post more picks?

Hey Cam! This is for sale with a sparkle blue Bolero kit for $280 in my area. It popped up last night. I'm playing with the idea of grabbing it for the snare. I brought a car full of drums home last night, so I have to tread lightly with my wife though....
& Mike: thanks for the input!

Looks like a Ludwig Jazz Fest with an MIJ strainer installed. The things people do to drums...
I've seen the blue sparkle bolleros for sale about 4/6 mths ago..
just near the Ontario/Que border (Canadian side / lolol)
same.?
but there was no lud snare / I believe it was the orig blue bolero..?
Its easily worth the 280 if the snare is real..
you know you can flip the kit for 2bills..

Just got home from a gig with my Rogers kit and the new Bollero kit/ Jazz Fest all stuffed into my car. It was like the drummers equivalent of a clown car! The snare really is a Ludwig. It has rerings, with darker shell and the wrap tucked into the scarf joint. It has a 1959 or 1969 stamp on the inside and a letter B hand-written on the shell. The hardware is nickel (except for the MIJ strainer). No badge or grommet, but what looks to be the original muffler setup. Also it has a NOS unused Amb batter head with the old crown logo on it. Cool! The floor tom has a NOS Gretsch head on it too. I also got another Speed King out of the deal. I'm a happy camper! I'll post some pics tomorrow.

awesome! i'd find a transition badge and a new grommet to put on that one. probably deserves the correct strainer too. would have probably been a wfl logo p83, but a Ludwig script would certainly be at home there as well. congrats!

Thanks Mike! Also the Bollero kick has a 3rd middle rering. I saw pics on here of another kick with this 3rs rering on a thread here recently, but can't remember what it was... Also it seems the kick is smaller than 22" and has a calfskin beater head, but needs a reso head. I'll measure that tomorrow. Pre-international maybe?

If the 1959 date is correct, then my guess is Barrett Deems (P-83 strainer) or Buddy Rich Super Classic (P87 strainer) with a mystery replacement strainer.
I have a '59 Barrett Deems in Black/Gold Duco.
Have you given the hoops the magnet test? Mine turned out to be brass under the plating.
