Picked up a Gretsch round badge set not long ago and this snare was in the mix. Looks to have older Ludwig hardware, maybe NOB. No badge or tags. Sounds pretty good. Any help would be great. Thank you, Todd

Looks more like a vintage Gretsch Jasper shell than any Ludwig shell I've ever seen. I'm not a Gretsch expert by any means, but I've owned enough 50's, 60's round badge snare drums to recognize the interior. I say, Gretsch, not Ludwig at all.

Too many great drums to list here!

Iam thinking the shell could be a Ludwig but also a Leedy shell..I dont think its gretsch shell if it was it would not have rings and would be clear inside the shell it looks to be painted an off white..1950'sand back grtesch shells are not painted on the inside mid 60's on is when gretsch painted the shells silver inside.Your shell looks to be a 3ply shell with rings this leads me to think Leedy or Ludwig...Mikey

It looks to me like a ludwig shell too. My guess would be a 1920s Ludwig standard

Thanks everyone for your insight on this old snare. I think I'll be taking it out tonite for a round at the Moose lodge. Thanks again. Todd
