Snare Shell Back From The Dead. Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Loading...

I got this 5.5x 14 shell from Gerald Sterken for the badge.

He was selling me the badge but didn't want to risk messing it up trying to get it off.

So he sent me the whole shell.

It had the wrap stripped off of it and had several extra holes in it.

I filled the holes with this 2 part epoxy wood filler called "sculpt wood".

It's pretty cool stuff.

So anyway,

I am trying to figure out the best way to wrap my whole set.

Apparently everybody is out of the Black Diamond Pearl until next month.

I am going to go with the 3m contact cement method I think.

But in the mean time I bought this Tangerine Sparkle from Jammin Sam and used his method.

It went on easy and came out looking good.

I just finished playing it in a recording session just now.

It sounds killer. Cool1

Good job on the drum. It turned out great. That is one of the colors I was considering using on that drum as it sat in the corner of my room for 20 years. I'm glad it ended up with someone who could make such a cool drum out it. Congratulations.

Thanks Gerald. :D

You've been a big help.

I couldn't bare to steal the badge and let the shell go.

Other than the extra holes it is in good shape.

If you never tried this stuff I say check it out.

It's easy to work with and it really bonds with the wood.

Sculpwood

I still owe you for the throw off parts you sent me. :D

Check this out.

I got a matching 14" floortom.

This one is no re-wrap.

The kick and the 12" are being prepped for a re-wrap.

Really nice job on the snare shell~! I love that wrap color. And nice score on the floor tom too.

Thanks for the sculptwood link. Stuff looks pretty good to use. I have a repair I need to do over and this will do the trick. ;)
