Snare wires for older Slingerland Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Loading...

Have a Slingerland copper Super Sound King snare from the 70s, and I'm having trouble replacing the actual snare wires from the Dual Super Snare strainer. Got one from Puresound, but it's not a perfect fit. The snare is 15 7/8" long and 2 1/8" wide. Here are some pix. Many thanks for any leads/ideas anyone may have to help me get this baby back up and singing!

Welcome to VDF!

Did you get the PR1416 from PureSound? Your original wires look like the originals from my late 50s Super Gene Krupa, which I will be replacing with the PR1416. Mine are also 15-7/8" long. As you can see, it's the same length as the original.

I did get the PR 1416. It works, but that strainer has grooves or channels that the ends of the snares fit into, and the PR 1416 isn't wide enough to fit into the channels. I'm hoping there's a better solution—in addition to a solution with more snare wires.

Hmmmm I can't claim to know anything about your snare...I've never owned or had any experience with one. I'm 99.99% sure that the PR1416 is the only one available at that length, so you may have to fabricate something to fill in the gaps and make it work. Maybe someone else here has one and/or knows of a remedy for your situation.

Good luck!
