I was in a music store recently up in Mane and they had a very good condition Fibes kit in a smokey gray transparent acrylic shells.

Ive been playing for a long time (not as long as others) but of the dozens of Fibes kits I've seen new and used, they were clear. I've never seen this color before.

Anyone interested I can forward contact info.

Price was under a grand- not sure if the snare was there but it might be.

Red Ripple '70's Yamaha D-20 20b-12-14f

Snares:

Jim!

Fibes Crystalite shells were available in CLEAR ... SMOKE ... and FROST ... starting in/around 1972. Are they RARE? Relatively so!, but most Fibes in very good to excellent condition from 45 years ago would be!

I will say this about Fibes drums in general. I have been to the last four drum shows in Chicago. There are a lot of Ludwig, Slingerland, Gretcsh and even Camco but I have seen very few Fibes kits, actually only one that comes to mind. Which makes me want to hold on to my kit even more. Love mine!

Thank you!

If it came with the original snare ,and if it was in good condition ,under a $K would be OK.

Those snares fetch about $400 in good condition.

What branded Fibes was it ?

Austin Fibes also made acrylic(and in a lot more colors).

Did this kit you speak of have a premier tom mount on it? If so that's my old kit.

They are pretty scarce but they do pop up. I wish I never sold mine but I had to make room and pay bills

This is definitely a vintage kit. I did not study it closely but the chrome needs cleaning for sure.

22-12-13-16f set. As I said not sure about the snare.
