So are we here to sell to other forum members or is this forum merely another tool for members to post what they have for sale on eBay?

DD!

What "usually" happens is ... the item is offered here to members FIRST, if there is little to no interest, a lot will post up on eBay afterwards or in addition to. There ARE exceptions with certain members of course. Without naming names, there are a few who use the VDF strictly to LINK to eBay. We "try" to take a neutral approach on that, but ... sometimes we have to intercede and ask that they back that down a little, especially if it's a LOT of items. The FOR SALE category is a courtesy to our members here, and as such, we hope that members don't take advantage of that!

I and others I bet see nothing wrong with ebayers coming here solely to post information about items they have for sale. Sure, we'd like them to contribute to discussions about vintage drums as well but who cares.

Even if there is no ebay link, the prices are ridiculous.

I've bought several items on here for very good prices -- have also sold on here. No complaints on my end.

How about who only post one item in multiple for sales post put all those into one for sale post ? It seems a bit much to post 6, 8 , 10 sales ads and each has but one item and that is just an eBay item number . A bit excessive in my opinion ..

Warning ... Avoid member statuscymbal here, vintage_collector on DFO , and americanpatriot10 on eBay. Email me for his name. All are the same shady guy who has burned me and a list of other members on both boards . He is also selling on Facebook too ..

I agree with you there. If the seller can't spend a minute typing a few lines describing the product they're not worth anyone's time.

Well, David cares ... and it's his site! As I have been running the "front end" of the store for a while now, I tend to let it go ... to a degree. Read between the lines of my response and you will see that I was referencing what was mentioned in the last couple posts here, specifically #6 and #7. Otherwise, it's all good!

I for one appreciate Tommy's "neutral" approach on this issue, because I personally enjoy following posted links (in our For Sale section) to unusual or rare items on eBay or C.L.; items which fellow members wouldn't even know were available out there in the vast internet world unless a member shared the listing. I see nothing wrong with a member posting an eBay link to say, an OBP Jazzfest and stating, "Not my sale, but check this out if you're looking for one". I did this very thing last year. I posted a local C.L. ad for a George Way set listed for sale by a small music shop located near me. I had no interest in the set, but my lead enabled a fellow member to scoop this set up...

As Tommy stated, the For Sale section is a courtesy to members which enables us to put a little money in our own pockets if we so choose, but I see it also as a public service enabling us to point fellow members in the right direction to items of rarity or special interest.

Thanks for the courtesy Tommy.

I completely agree and have spoken my opinion concerning this. Seems to be another avenue to redirect buyers. Posts solely containing ebay links should be deleted.
