Some Love 4 Clubbies Last viewed: 2 hours ago

These are just a few of the Club Date kits I have owned at one time or another. I am a HUGE Clubbie fan. I just love the sound and the look of the drums. Club Dates, no matter what era, just drip tone and mojo like syrup on hot buttered pancakes.

Kit 1 - Green/Gold Duco 1959 (Transition Badge) 9" x 13", 12" x 15", 12" x 20"

Kit 2 - 1966 Black Diamond Pearl (Keystone Badge) 8" x 12", 14" x 14", 14" x 20"

Kit 3 - 1964 Red Sparkle (Keystone Badge) 8" x 12", 14" x 14", 14" x 20"

Show us your Clubbies!

I have a bangin’ set of Clubbies in BDP 8”x12”, 14”x14”, and 14”x20”. One of the previous owners removed the rail consolette and installed a diamond plate with double tom holder. The floor tom is a later 60’s clear maple interior keystone badge and round muffler; the others are white interior with Oct ’67 date stamps and bb mufflers. Wrap is decent but could use some work. I didn’t paint the one hoop ‘cause I thought it made the set look more vintage and cool being all scratched up. Since I took these pictures I have re-installed the original Ludwig logo resonant head on the bass drum. This is a great little set and fun to gig with. I love the look of the single lugs too! Clubbies all the way!

Super- Wow, what a cool kit! For my money, BDP is hands down the classiest wrap out there. The Acro is a perfect match! I love the way clubbies sound too. Tone all day long. Some guys speculate that the centralized, single lug set-up allows the shells to resonate more. I'm not a scientist so I wouldn't know, but I do know from sitting behind them that club dates -do- sound better, more open than their dbl. lugged counterparts.

Love your kit!

ecCurtis- Not original to the kit, I did the paint-job/restoration, but it is a color combo that Ludwig offered at that time. It's a 'legit' Ludwig finish.

Hey Mike,

It was my pleasure to make that drum for a truly good soul! I love that kit man. It was making me as crazy as it was making you to see it incomplete.

* I still have just enough black galaxy wrap to do a snare drum! I've been waiting and looking for a worthy project snare to use it on.

It would have to be a patch job as the piece is not quite long enough. But I'm good at hiding seams under lugs and tension rods so neither of the two seams will be visible at all once all the hoops, rods and hardware is on.

Why? You got a good project drum/candidate?
