Let's see if there's any interest. I just picked these up a few weeks ago, cleaned them up and realized I have way too many drums. These are "Sorento" brand and appear (to me- correct me if I'm wrong...) to be Star brand from the early 70s. 20-12-14 with a matching snare, and ALL of them have six lugs/side. Grey-painted interiors on 8-9 ply wood, no re-rings. Red sparkle finish is in excellent shape; there's a scuff or two, but really very nice. A slight (and I mean slight) bit of sun-fade on one side of the snare and rack tom. The chrome is about as good as any I've seen on MIJ drums of this vintage. Yes, there's a touch of rust in the corners on hoops and a blister or two on the lugs, but overall pretty clean. Decent (playable) heads all around, but I'm not gonna pay to put anything new on them- that's up to you. Never pulled the hardware off, so a motivated owner could still get them prettier! ALL original lugs/hoops present. No other hardware beyond what you see.
Now the negatives: The red sparkle inlay on each hoop only goes about 2/3 the way around. The bottom sides have nothing. Hardly noticeable unless you're looking, as the tops are covered. Also, these are the hoops that weigh about 2 oz each: must be made of balsa wood! But they're original and quite nice for what they are. The cymbal holder depends on some sort of 3/8 rod to be in it in order not to rattle... You will get nothing more than a cruddy 3/8 bolt in there, 'cause I didn't even get that. The picture shows a chrome piece protruding- ignore it. You won't get it. That's about it. Almost forgot- previous owner drilled an additional hole on top of the bass drum and swung the rail around topside; I returned it to it's original position and filled the hole with a chrome carriage bolt.
I haven't really played/tuned the whole kit, but I dragged the snare to practice this week and it sounds OK. You won't confuse it for a Dynasonic, but it sounds like a snare-drum. Happy to answer questions. If I get no interest in a few days, I'm putting them on consignment nearby. Free to pickup in Minneapolis, shipping possible, but probably costs $$$.
Oh, and yes, I appreciate the irony of the "Ludwig" front head; there when I got it.
Price- $250.
