HOWEVER, just thought, which one sounds better? The Rogers or the Standard? Could be a different discussion based on that.

THANKS to all of you who've taken the time to provide your input regarding my initial post. I value each one of your diverse opinions. That's what makes this forum great!

At the start of spring each year I seem to get the "bug" to pick up a vintage kit in the local area to to keep me busy until the warmer weather actually rolls in on a (hopefully) regular basis. It's nothing that I actually "need" but, then again, if it was that would take the fun out of it, right? Since whatever I might find would be nothing more than an "extra" kit, I try to keep the costs under control.

I find it interesting that, of the choices I listed in my post, nobody apparently thought that I could get a better deal on a kit at the upcoming Chicago Drum Show. I've never had the opportunity to attend the show and was wondering if there actually were "deals" to be had.

Personally, I could probably justify purchasing any one of the three kits I listed. Initially, the Downbeat Kit got my interest, since I enjoy spending the time to provide the elbow grease required for a good clean and polish. I also don't see many Downbeat kits being offered in the local area, certainly not at what I'd considerable reasonable prices. In addition to that, I'd think that this kit would hold its value the best, should I end up selling it down the road. Although the shell issue would be something I'd have to have addressed by a third party, I've had several fellow forum-members offer their assistance, which I greatly appreciate. I asked the current owner if I could stop by to make sure that all shells are "in-round". I also want to see exactly how much of the hardware is currently missing or would need to be replaced. If it's not significant, that kit might be the one for me. It's just got that "vibe" that I really like.

If I can't make up my mind, maybe I'll take the easy way out and simply pick up some rims for my vehicle (lol)! Thanks again to all for all of your time and your thoughts!Clapping Happy2

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
