Hey all you Spike Jones and the City Slickers fans,

I just watched 4 awesomely hilarious shows on Netflix, "streaming".

Spike Jones - The Legend

Colgate Comedy Hour (February 11, 1951)

Colgate Comedy Hour (September 16, 1951)

All Star Revue (January 12, 1952)

All Star Revue (June 7, 1952)
It's only 4 shows, but it's pretty good quality. All of the wild and hilarious gags and skits are there.

I'm also a big fan of George Rock the trumpet player. Just amazing talent in that band.

If you've never heard of or seen Spike Jones I highly recommend these episodes.

Excited

There are some pretty good Spike Jones videos on YouTube also. My Dad got Spike Jones album, "Dinner Music For People Who Aren't Very Hungry", or something like that back in the 50's (?): Tea for Two, Black and Blue Danube Waltz, Chloe...great stuff!

I always thought "Der Fuehrer's Face" was the big money maker for them. Gosh I love that raspberry sound.

Ya know Spike is the original "more cowbell" kinda guy. He probably could have been a spokesperson for LP if they had been around then.

I guess I'll have to check YouTube, but the quality is usually Lame

I guess we owe a debt to those who saved and restored those videos for us.

More cowbell Spike.

True. What a great way to describe Spike and Frank! I don't doubt for a second that Zappa wasn't influenced by Spike. If he was alive, it would be fun to ask him.

Too many great drums to list here!
