Spray Paint on Lugs and Hardware Last viewed: 5 hours ago

Hey guys, I think this has been brought up before.

What is the best way to get black spray paint off of chrome lugs....ehh A friend of mine was given a Pearl set, the previous owner decided to spray pain all the hardware black but did all but 1 tom and the snare.

So I need to know what would take off the paint without taking off the chrome

Someone spray painted over top all the hardware on my Cadillac Green tom before I bought it. I soaked a soft rag with Acetone and wrapped each lug to start with in the rag - left it for a minute or so and wiped the paint right off. No harm to the 24K Gold Plating under the paint.

Try it on a small area first. It should work.

Just stripped the paint off the inside of a fiberglass shell and some lug screws. Used Citristrip worked great no damage, no fumes stuff works pretty good. Soaked the screws in this stuff for 30 min. and rinsed of the paint at the kitchen sink.

I have some hardware that was spray painted silver I'm working on today. Trying Motsenbockers Lift Off #4 as we speak. I sprayed the bracket then wrapped it in a piece of paper towel and soaked it again to keep it covered. Working nicely so far. I'll post a before and after pic asap.

BTW Home Depot has the Lift Off. I bought the spray like $9 bottle. John (Purdie Shuffle) had used it and thought I'd give it a try.

Ok here we go. Old paint on left and nice chrome on the right. I let it soak like 5 min and worked it off with a old toothbrush. Came out pretty nice I think.
