Star Dums, Tama... Last viewed: 6 hours ago

Loading...

Hi you all, I have another question about a Star drum set, I found. The seller stated they were 1960,s, purple in color, 5 piece, and had Lido Supreme on all of the drums. The guy was asking $500, and stated they were cracked, faded, wrap was coming off. Two questions, are they worth that ?, and are they worth resurfacing ? I know they came from Japan, and Tama became the company, that all I know about them. Your advise ?

Thanks, BuckyCoffee Break2

a 5 piece set in poor shape would be worth about $100 unless it comes with some nice cymbals. Even here in New Zealand where vintage stuff is harder to come by that kit sounds like $100 at best. $500 would buy you the very best example available

Vintage MIJ drums, no matter what the brand, will be worth close to nothing if in bad shape.. He's asking way too much..As Andrew said, I wouldn't offer him more than $100.. I picked up one of the most sought after and collectible MIJ drums, and those are the President series drums by Pearl.. This was Pearl's first official attempt at a professional drum line..The wrap was in tact, with some slight shrinkage and wrinkling, but actually cleaned up nicely.. This included a 5 piece kit with original snare, original hardware, and even original drum heads, for $250 Cdn. dollars..

Some pics would also help in determining if they are worth picking up and restoring, but so far at that asking price,

i wouldn't even bother..
