“Stipelgold” Ludwig & Ludwig Deluxe Snare Last viewed: 16 hours ago

How much are these worth? Are the tension rod claws readily available?

Aside from the non-original heads and snare wires, the drum is complete. Around 8 of the claws are broken and the plating on the hoops is spotty. The stipelgold finish is all there, but dirty. The whole drum needs some work.

BTW, I held this drum in my hands tonight and it's also for sale. Mind Blowi

I guess I'm asking if I should consider purchasing this drum.

Is it Stipelgold or Ludwigold? Stipelgold has a really rough texture and is very fragile. Ludwigold was similar but had more of a sparkle to it.

Either way, they are both pretty rare, especially the Stipelgold. I have no idea what sizes were offered at that time, but that may also play a part in value. Mike Curatto would know; if he sees this thread I'm sure he'll post something.

It's the rough texture finish with the brass/gold looking standard hardware. I think it's a 5"x14", but it might be 6"x14". I should have measured.

The claws are available . But you can hardly expect an appraisal for a drum w/ no photos, sizes, or description of condition. These are nice snares, but there may be some sizes that may not give the voice you want. 5X14, 6 1/2X14, 6 1/2X15, 5X15, 4X14, 4X15.

Cooper's Vintage Drums had a 5x14 Deluxe Stipelgold snare for sale for something like $1700.00. It was in nice condition, so that should give you a ballpark range on what retail for that drum would be.

More detailed photos would really help your cause and would make it much easier for those trying to give you some answers...

Assuming that it's a 5x14 (L&L also made 4x14 and the much more rare 6.5x14), no extra holes, all original parts, finish is clean with no divots (as this finish can get) etc. you are looking at a 1000.00-2500.00 drum.

I have the Artgold collar hooks but they are not cheap, 15.00 each but it will get your drum back to original.

A little better pic.

The the stipelgold is really dirty. More of a "stipelbrown".

When you say $1000 - $2500, is that the value after the drum has been restored? I guess I am looking for a fair price for the drum, as it is today.

Thanks for everyone's responses.
