Storing drums... Last viewed: 46 seconds ago

Speechless on those amazing Rogers drums- and nice storage set up.

Randy, good on you as well- your photo shows pro storage too.

I want to clarify- in someone/everyone`s opinion - stacking bass/floor/rack - three drums high- is ok for semi-long term storage? If so, I might switch my method- gotta consider it. I think I might be able to get more space that way. Anybody store 4 drums high?

I have stacked as much as 6 high. Usually this includes another couple of smaller toms and maybe a snare. I always try to put some 2x4's or a piece of plywood between the bass drum and the floor tom.

Good rule of thumb is to use common sense...if the kit looks like it will fall....don't stack.

Thank You,

From The Ploughman

My apologies to the OP, this is about how to store drums. I dont mean to side track your thread.I use a Gorilla Rack, ....sold by OSH. Orchard Supply Hardware. I have four shelves. I have 10 snare drums, 20-12-14-16, 18-12-14, 18-12-13-14-16 stored comfortably. BDs on top shelf, Snare Drums second, and floor toms/ride toms. Bottom shelf I have 22-13-14-16 Big R kit, with the 22 on its hoop side.

I checked out that site.... that's not a bad price at all for the shelving system.

The size listed ... 36x18x72... is that the size you have?

Thanks !

The one I have is 6 ft x18 in x6 ft. This is a pic from a couple years ago. Right now there are four kits, and 10 snares on the rack with room for probably 3 more snare drums.

Ploughman- that`s a great set up - thanks for that- inspiring. I keep 100% of my collection in cases or in bags- don`t those get awfully dusty uncovered?

Ive got my own collection of feather dusters.

It is a bit of a hassle. I dont know how much time I have spent looking for something less open to the air, and yet still be affordably functional. To have something custom made is rather expensive, as well as inconvenient, and you get locked into something you cannot change. So for now, I dust and clean, all the time.

That looks great Ploughman....

Our local Northern Tool and Equipment store carries Gorilla Racks.

They have a four feet wide x18x six feet high one which would be about right for my needs.

Could be this weekend's project.

Thanks !

I need to put a little something on the wood for protection but I think I'm on the right track.
