Strange 70's Rogers tom arm post Help please Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Loading...

I went to check out a mid to late 70's Big R kit today and everything seemed normal with the hardware except the bass drum mounted tom arm post. The toms had the memriloc style mounts as well as the floor toms.

The tom arm post was a T post mounted to the bass drum. The two rack toms slid on to the same horizontal tube attatched to the vertical tube that mounts to the bass drum. This does not allow for independent vertical adjustment of the drums because of this. I expected to find adjustable arms and not this fixed T post. Anyone else seen one like this? Sorry, I did not have a camera with me at the time. The chrome horizontal and vertical tubes were welded in to a T and looked to possibly be factory but I can not find another picture of one like it. Thank you for any help!

No,I can't say that I have-but if it is indeed a Rogers part, maybe it actually goes to something else, like Timbales.

Here is what the tom mount should look like. Single center pipe with triple hole top piece. 1 tom arm for each tom drum.

Thanks guys, I may call him back and inquire about the missing original mount.

So, I went back and picked up a lot of (8) Rogers drums today and here is the culprit that I previously posted about.

It's not home made and I'm sure it's not original, but what's it from?

Any ideas?

Wonder if it cut from a rack setup of some sort? All you need is the 1" tubing to make it work.

I'm just surprised someone actually used this setup. Not much adjustment options!
